What a day.
This past Saturday, over 80 employees came together for Run as One at Rutledge-Wilson Farm. We couldn’t have asked for a better event!
Our day kicked off with a 5k, but with a twist! We
peer pressured encouraged employees to bring in their dogs and it was incredible. There’s nothing more exciting than to see a pack of smiling dogs enjoying their awesome Tuthill frisbee ropes.
Some of the coolest parts of the day was just watching the joy on people’s face. The time that they were spending together with friends and family was just a delight. I’m not going to lie, I really wanted to run through the obstacle course that was set up for the children. I might have ruined it, but I was jealous of how much fun the children were having.
Given Springfield’s lovely weather for the day, I’d say the most hotly attended portion of the day was the bonfire. We gathered together around the fire, roasting marshmallows, telling jokes, and just having a good time.
Completely unrelated – Let’s talk about s’mores. This may be an unpopular take, but flaming marshmallows are way better than waiting a year and a half on roasting a marshmallow. My strategy is *always*:
Put marshmallow on stick
Put stick approximately 12 inches above flames
Turn over slowly for 10 seconds
Plunge stick into flames
Take out flaming marshmallow stick and hold it proudly in the air
Blow out flame and enjoy
Another nice little wrinkle that was thrown into the day was the raffle. We were raffling off prizes all day with things ranging from iTunes gift cards to the popular yard games that we played!
Can’t say it enough. It’s a good feeling being a part of an organization that consistently proves their genuine care for their employees.
