March Madness & Team Rubicon

March Madness at Tuthill

Here are some random factoids about how actually crazy March Madness is:

  • Roughly, 70 million brackets are entered every year.
  • Tournament winners get all sorts of intangible things like glory and everlasting fame. But starting in 1986, the winning team was also given the opportunity to purchase the actual hardwood court on which they won the championship.
  • The 2013 tournament generated $1.15 billion - just in advertising revenue. The NCAA was paid over $10 billion for the broadcast rights to the tournament through 2024, and the top teams generate tens of millions in profit - paying out millions in salaries to coaches.
  • It's a GREAT way to set up a fundraising campaign for a cause of your choice!
This year, we're sitting at our desks when one of our colleagues suggests that we should capitalize on the craze that is March Madness and benefit our cause partner, Team Rubicon.

Team Rubicon is an organization that's near and dear to our hearts as they unite the skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders to rapidly deploy emergency response teams.

When we heard the idea, all the light bulbs started to go off. We quickly got the wheels in motion and had things set up and ready to go with about a day's worth of time before the games started. I was amazed at how quick and responsive our team members were. Their heart and compassion for this organization was on full display as they kept turning in their brackets.

When all was said and done, our offices here in Springfield raised a stunning $170 dollars in less than 24 hours!

We’re so happy to have been able to turn this silly time of the year into a fundraising effort to help support a cause that we’re extremely passionate about.
